Baldy Butte Fly-In 2019

Contact Rick Ely 509-306-9525 for questions regarding the event.

This event will be in the Yakima Canyon at Eaton's Ranch near Lmuma Recreation site. Baldy Butte is a North West Paragliding Club site. The Fly-in is for Para and Hang pilots with family and friends. This event is a fund raiser for the annual site fee (2020-2021) which is on private property and a great chance for site orientation. There is a Baldy Butte Pilot Site Agreement form which must be filled out every year (new requirement 2018 by the Eaton family owners of the property). Registration Fee is $40 per pilot $10 per guest, children are free. This includes the annual site fee per pilot, Saturday night BBQ and event TENT camping on Eaton's property (Vans and truck/camper are ok). Those with RV's and trailers have dry camping sites at Lmuma Recreation site, Big Pines Recreation site, Umtanum, and Roza Recreation site, all BLM managed sites. (These sites are first come first serve Sept 15-May 14 and are $15/night. More information is at Yakima River Canyon Campgrounds, WA.)

All funds raised help pay the annual site use fee, USHPA site insurance, and Fly-in cost. There will be porta-potties and bottled water, a fire pit (if there is not a burn ban) and a BBQ and keg. Please bring a side dish to share.

The Yakima Canyon is a great place for many activities so bring your fishing poles (This is a Blue Ribbon river, barbless hooks and artificial flies only and catch and release only), hiking boots, Rafts to float a Class 1 river (gentle), Bicycles and sunscreen.

Please keep dogs on leash and out of the landing zone. No vehicles left on top as there is limited space. Please have driver return to the bottom. Please share rides up. There will be 1 truck with driver to give rides up to launch. Please consider offering driver $10 for fuel/wear and tear per ride. All vehicles using access road are required to be AWD or 4- wheel drive and carry a shovel and fire extinguisher.
