Tiger Mountain Update

Updated March 20th, 2020

Hi folks,

We're blessed to be part of the Issaquah community and to be able to practice our beautiful sport here. Given the current global events surrounding COVID-19, and especially the number of local cases we have here, it's part of our responsibility to the community to reduce any strain we have on local medical resources.

In such exceptional circumstances, we need to share responsibility and reduce our demands on hospital and emergency services. We are asking for everyone to voluntarily suspend flying at Tiger for 3 weeks until April 13th, in cooperation with the city of Issaquah and King County Parks.

I personally talked with the Mayor of Issaquah, Mary Lou Pauly, and she assured me that the paragliders are an icon and treasure of Issaquah, and this is a temporary ask and can't wait to see us in the air when it is safe to do so.

I know this is hard news for a lot of pilots - we all know the freedom and joy that paragliding brings us. I know for a lot of us, flying keeps us sane, and is an essential recreational activity. We also need to do our part to help the community get through this crisis.
Let's use this time to focus on safety, education, and work on our kiting skills while still following the latest health guidelines for social distancing and staying safe.
I know not everyone is in the club, so please spread the word.

If you have any questions, please contact the board at flybod@nwparagliding.com or reach out to me directly.

The desire to fly is an idea handed down to us by our ancestors who... looked enviously on the birds soaring freely through space... on the infinite highway of the air.
